Soft wood, hard wood, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, fabric, glass, acrylic, resin, recycled materials, bioplastic……Each material has its own temper. Some of them are easy to work with, some of them are trouble-makers. However, it is always refreshing and inspiring when we are exploring the material characteristics deeply with patience. The closer we look, the more likely we discover the beauty of the material.

APPLICATION OF BIO-PLASTIC

PVC Tubing weaved on the welded metal skeleton; a strange chair structure that transfers force in an irregular way; adding a bouncing feeling by utilizing wood lamination…You can tell that I am a person with a strong curiosity. I love combining different materials during design process, testing the limit of various techniques, asking questions while finding the way to solve them, making the impossible possible. Because I believe that creativity is always hidden in the process that is filled with unpredictability.

Hi! Welcome! My name is Yuya Zhou. Glad to have you here.

I am a young female furniture designer who has been studying on furniture design for more than 6 years. The eastern culture background and western study experience create an interesting chemistry in my design. You might find some mindfulness and Zen elements in my works, while mixing with a modern and minimalist design concept.
