CAPPELLINI DREAM PROJECT IN ICFF

Year: 2022 Spring

Location: Javits Center, NYC

Digitally displayed in CAPPELLINI Booth

The seating system (Mushroom Sitting System) I designed for CAPPELLINI DREAM PROJECT was selected by Giulio Cappellini to get displayed in CAPPELLINI booth in ICFF.

The core concept of the Mushroom Sitting System is to provide a lively, adaptable and sustainable furniture system for people. The biomorphic appearance creates this lively atmorsphere as well as a uniuqe landscape in the space.

RISD GRADSHOW IN RISD

Year: 2023 Spring

Location: Rhode Island Convention Center

The Gradshow is the most important event for all graduate students. Each Student will have an individual booth to display their works. The Gradshow is open to public. People can take a look, have some deep conversation with the designer, or even purchase the work that caught their eyes by the end of the show.

By the end, two of these three bioplastic lamps were sold out during the exhibition, as well as the two Lotus low tables. The woven Mushroom chair on the left was collected in RISD bank building.

TEACHING IN RISD

Year: 2023 Winter Session

Location: Bank Building, Providence, RI

Department: Furniture

This is a 6-week intense winter session course I taught in RISD. All the course syllabus and the assignments were designed by myself. Besides, the teaching experience helped me to get the Collegiate Teaching in Art and Design Certification from RISD.

The course is open to all students, working in any material, looking to develop a core research-based practice. I shared my experience on researching materials, testing structures, the general idea of design language…to my students, and helped them to complete their projects by the end.

SENIOR REVIEW IN CCA

Year: 2019 Spring

Location: Heron Arts, 7 Heron st, San Francisco, CA

Department: Furniture

The senior review is also called the Graduation Exhibition. Students will present their works which are done in the senior year. The exhibition is completely open to the public. Families, friends, artists, designers, department professors and many new faces appear on the show.

20TH ANNUAL RONALD & ANITA WORNICK AWARD

Year: October 29-November 2, 2018

Location: Lobby, the main building, California College of the Arts.

Winner: Yuya Zhou & Graham P. Ansell

The Ronald and Anita Wornick Award is a great highlight of CCA’s school year. The scholarship is a boon to the gifted students who receive it. The exhibition held every fall to honor those students is the Furniture Program’s biggest annual event.

And, most importantly, the work on view clearly demonstrates to the entire college community the values that the Furniture Program promotes and the creativity, dedication, and craftsmanship of its students.

JUNIOR REVIEW

Year: 2018 Spring

Location: Lobby, the main building, California College of the Arts.

Department: Furniture

The junior review is an important event for all students in Arts and Design major. Students in different departments need to prepare all workpieces they have done during the last three years in the college, place their works on the pedestal with labels and install the exhibition together.

Junior review is an open critique to the public. Everyone can walk in and communicate with students, ask some questions and give their comments. Besides, a jury of professors will meet students one by one and give critiques. The student is responsible to explain every detail and present the core concept clearly.
